CITATION:

Silver Star : The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Terence (Terrance) G. Beardsley (ASN: 33419962), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, in action on 30 April 1945, at ****, Germany. Private First Class Beardsley, Machine Gunner, volunteered for a three man patrol whose mission was to flank a 20-mm. gun that had an assault platoon pinned down. The small group advanced across open terrain and drew heavy enemy fire, but Private First Class Beardsley continued forward carrying the entire machine gun. Three hundred yards from the enemy position he received a serious body wound and fell to the ground but set up his gun and fired all of his ammunition, enabling the patrol to gain advantageous positions from which they destroyed the gun crew. Private First Class Beardsley's cool courage and determination were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Airborne Forces.
