CITATION:

Distinguished Flying Cross : Pilot Officer Cyril Denys BOOTHBY, D.F.M. (126120), Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, No. 161 Squadron. Pilot Officer Lewis George Alfred REED (49333), No. 16.1 Squadron. Pilot Officers Boothby and Reed have flown together on many sorties as pilot and gunnery leader respectively. In hazardous circumstances they have both displayed resolute determination and fortitude in keeping with the highest traditions of the Royal Air Force.
