CITATION:
British Empire Medal : Since the arrival of the unit in MALAYA in May 1950 C/Sgt BUXTON has performed the duties of Troop Sergeant Major. In this capacity he has had a great deal to do with the operational efficiency of his troop which has had an outstanding record of success against the bandits.
He has by his unfailing cheerfulness, his unbounded enthusiasm and his zeal set an extremely fine example, which has been an encouragement to all with whom he has been in contact.
Although his particular duties have not required it, he has never lost an opportunity of leading patrols against bandits, many of which have been successful.
His overall contribution to the working of his troop and the unit has been far in excess of that which could reasonably be expected of him.
Place : Malaya
Date of Action : May 1950 to June 1952
How Employed : Troop Sgt Major
