Newspaper reports from the time states he was killed in aircraft crash on way to Lhasa, Tibet to deliver gifts to the Dalai Lama.

Thank you for this information. I acquired Dolan's Legion of Merit and Bronze Sar (both named and cased) in an auction 2 weeks ago. I'm trying to also find the citations for each medal but am not having much luck only that Chat GBT states he won both medals for the OSS Mission that both he and Tolstoy participated.
