CITATION:

George Cross : Chief Petty Officer Ellingworth, who had been commended by VERNON for his earlier work on mines, shared in many of the risks faced by Lt.Cdr. Ryan and, like him, lost his life in carrying out the highly skilled and perilous duties he had willingly accepted.
