Hi
I was wondering if anyone could help me find out more about my grandfather. He served in the SOE and I know he saw action in Norway. He received the Norwegian Cross (2 swords), the Military Medal and was mentioned in dispatches. I am struggling to find out any more. Any help or information would be most welcome as both he and my father (his son) are no longer with us.My grandfather was a quiet unassuming man who played down his role in the war and simply said he was in the RAF, which I always believed, little knowing the full story behind that statement . Thanking you in advance

I have a record listing him as a planner part of the Norwegian 'Kompani Linge'. Believed to have been awarded the MM, MiD, and, as you say, Norwegian awards. Kompani Linger operated on behalf of the SOE.

I believe I knew him when he was living on Prince of Wales Drive, London, with his wife, Rosemary and their two children. He did tell me that he had been active in Norway in WWII, but was not giving too much away. The name "Wyndham" has caught my attention as this name appears in my ancestry. He may have known my cousin Sir Wiliam George Eden Wiseman, Bart, also SOE - WW1 and 2. Be interesting to hear back if we are talking about the same person. It does sound very likely.
