Hello,
I received the OSS file concerning Guillaume Treguier from National Archives Trust Fund. It contains 22 pages. I can't give you all the content of the file but I can tell you how he received his bronze medal.
"CITATION"
Staff Seargent Guillaume M. Treguier, 32 413 387, DEML, Army of the United States, is awarded to the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service during the period 22 August 1945 to 18 September 1945. He was assigned as French interpreter to a Prisoner of War Humanitarian team which went into Hanoï, French Indo China with the mission of locating Prisoner of War Camps in the area and to free and render aid to Allied Prisoners of War. This team located a POW Camp with approximately 300 prisoners, many of whom where seriously ill with tuberculosis, beri-beri, malaria and malnutrition. He assisted in rounding up all available medical supplies and Japanese medical personnel and set up medical facilities to take care of the prisoners until the arrival of American Medical personnel and supplies. With the aid of natives, he helped to organise and administer adequate and clean quarters for the housing of the sick internees able to be moved. This team was working in area where the Japs where still armed and the peace negociation had not been completed. Seargent Treguier was the only fluently French-speaking member of the team and as such was a key member in handling affairs with the French officials of the area. The great initiative, devotion to duty and untiring efforts of Seargent Treguier were immeasurably responsible for the saving of countless POW's lives and reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
