I am currently looking into the lives and deaths of the 80 former pupils of Eltham College who perished during the Second World War. The most well known of the Old Boys being Eric Liddell.

Captain William Edward Field John attended Eltham between 1923 and 1932. We have his basic details as shown on this site and the CWGC site. Please can anybody throw any light on what William did to be awarded the Military Cross and how he died? Any information will be much appreciated.

Have added the citation to his record. The citation is available via National Archives.
