Does any one have a clear picture of a C 1944-45 SAS beret badge? The type that was machine made in the UK as from 1944 when the SAS returned from Italy and was made part of the AAC. The 1941-43 beret badges are quite good recognizable but I find it hard to date beret badges as 44-45.
I have been looking at the SAS gallery -some photos are quite good but I did not find a very clear one.

There is one picture though in Len Withakers book Some talk of private armies but I am looking also for wartime photos.

I have 2 examples which in my view can be ww2 c1944.

Thanks
Jean-Baptiste

Jean-Baptiste, I have two SAS berets from my Grandfather (2nd SAS) and i think they are from the period you are after. I will try and photo and attach and see what you think.

Jean, my father was in the Italy Squadron in 1944 and also on Operation Pistol in 1944 in Alsace Lorraine. He buried some SAS at Mousey after the war in 1945. I have two group photogrphs of him and the squadron he was in. I also have a photgrph of him with his brother during the war in Londonwhilst on leave. My home e-mail address is galcock@btinternet.com
Send me a message and I will replt.
