This man was my grandfather. He passed away on December 10th of 2009 at the young age of 94. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and a complete blessing to this world. He was kind-hearted, caring, and always put others before himself. After my grandmother, Ruth Clark Lelong, passed away his family took care of him. She was his everything. He woke up at 5 am every morning to ensure that she got her medication and breakfast. I will always be proud to say he was my grandfather, and proud that he served his country. He will never be forgotten, however, for we will keep him alive with our memories, pictures, and family stories. I love you Pop Pop. God bless.

This may not be active anymore, but I hope this finds its way to you, as my Grandfather, a man with whom we were cut from the same cloth, two outlets in a family, he and I became the closest of friends m, I even at age 11. William Colby was on your Grabdfather’s Jedburgh team and what a great delight to have read your truly wonderful note, as my Grandfsther taught me many things, but it was his love and deepest respect for the people of France that I carry always.

Please know your note means so much to me, I am hoping to connect with others who served with My Grandfather, and you have made me think of him and that is truly a gift.

With my best regards,
George Elbridge Colby

(Grandson of William Egan Colby, the youngest of his eldest son, Jonathan, and truly inspired by your Grandfather, whose bravery and service to his nation are exemplary.
