CITATION:

Silver Star : Sergeant Wallace A. Montgomery (ASN: 38402630), United States Army, is reported in the unit history of the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment to have been awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving with Company B, 517th Parachute Infantry Regimental Combat Team, during World War II. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
