Hi
Can anyone help with my research. During WW2 my father became a member of the Phantom Regiment - was based in Richmond at the Richomnd Hill Hotel and in Richmond park. My father would not talk about his milatary service but now and then he would say 'David's' on the TV again and I did not know what my father meant unitl I found out that his officer was David Niven the flim star - this took some doing to get out of my father. I know the name, at least I am sure, of one of my fathers buddies as I remember visiting him in my youth at a farm - I think in Devon. I would like to find out a lot more about what my father was invovled in and got up to. Can any one give me some information or point me to a book or anything. I have read the books by David Niven and other bits of information and have some idea as to what went on but there are a lot of gaps. I only have one photo of my father in uniform from WW2. Before my father was in the Phantoms he always said that he used to 'box' in the army. My father refused to have a passport or go on holiday aboard - till this day I wonder why not as did it have something to do with his squadron's activities.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help or has some information.
Peter
