Schools: St. Joseph’s, Bury, and Thornleigh Salesian College, Bolton.
April 1939 - he signed a professional football contract with Bury Football Club.
May 1941 - he volunteered for the RAF, 1546296, and trained as radio-operator and gunner.He joined 138 Squadron on May 28, 1943.
August 1943 - The regular rear gunner for Squadron Leader Frank C. Griffiths suffered head injuries in an accident in the vicinity of the camp from which he later died, and was buried August 12, 1943.
Squadron Leader Griffiths choose my Uncle, then a Flight Sergeant, as replacement.
Died August 15, 1943, in Meythet, Haute Savoie, after Halifax JD 180 developed engine trouble and crashed.
His grave, as well as that of Flying Officer Sydney John Congdon, is in the Meythet Communal Cemetery.
