On 5th May 1980 the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) was immortalised as its members were broadcast live on national and international television dramatically storming London's Iranian Embassy and rescuing hostages held at gunpoint by Arab revolutionaries. Operation Nimrod was a resounding success.

One of the enigmatic black-clad warriors responsible for the triumphant outcome that day was Pete Winner, codenamed Soldier 'I'.

Relive the highs and the lows of the most famous hostage rescue of modern history.

STORM THE EMBASSY with SOLDIER 'I'!

Pete will be available for book signing and to chat to visitors. The presentation will start at 1230 hrs in the Field Marshals' Room of the museum and there will be plenty of time following the talk to ask Pete questions about his time in the SAS.

Announcing a special guest appearance by members of Pagoda Troop : 22SAS CRW Reenactment

Pagoda Troop is a dedicated group of UK military collectors which preserves and displays accurate researched uniforms, weapons and equipment of the Special Projects Team of the CRW (Counter Revolutionary Warfare) Wing of 22 Special Air Service Regiment from between the years 1980 and 2006.

The aims of the group are to research, collect, conserve and preserve original uniforms and equipment of UK Special Forces soldiers for the purposes of photographic recording, educational and commemorative displays as well as for public events where a living history approach allows the general public close access to uniforms of interest which we also extend to military historians, museums and those who support UK armed forces and in particular Special Forces.
