CITATION:

British Empire Medal : Tpr SPICER was on active service in Dhofar from September to February 1972 as a member of a small group in support of local arab irregular soldiers. His group was involved in many fierce actions with the enemy in which Tpr SPICER's initiative and aggressive spirit consistently played a major part in the success of his group..

In one particular action his group commander was pinned down in open ground beside a wounded irregular soldier some one hundred yards away. Tpr SPICER immediately called for covering fire from the remainder of the group and made his way forward under very heavy enemy fire to the two men. He then gave very accurate covering fire enabling the Commander to carry the wounded can to safety. He then recovered the wounded man's weapon and made his own way back to rejoin his group.

Tpr SPICER's prompt and brave reactions under very heavy enemy fire undoubtedly played a major part in the recovery of the wounded man.
