CITATION:

Silver Star : The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private Dallas L. Wall (ASN: 38519159), United States Army, for gallantry in action on 25 December 1944, at ****, Belgium. Private Wall, Light Machine Gunner, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, volunteered on 24 December 1944 to cross terrain which was under enemy observation and heavy small arms fire, in an attempt to secure medical aid for four men who had been seriously wounded. It was impossible to render first aid to the wounded men and their presence in the positions hampered the operation of the machine gunners. Private Wall unhesitatingly volunteered to secure medical aid and have these men evacuated. His unselfish action, in an effort to aid his comrades and to clear the position so that its operations would not be hampered, reflects great credit upon himself and the Airborne Forces of the United States Army.
