CITATION:

Military Medal : On the island on PISCOPI on 23 Feb during an attack on an enemy post, whilst in very close contact with the enemy and under fire from 40 mm, 20 mm and small arms this NCO showed great coolness by working himself into a position from which he was able to bomb the GERMANS with grenades. By this action he killed, amongst others, a GERMAN NCO, who was in a position to inflict heavy casualties on the patrol. On the island of STAMPALIA on 9 Feb this NCO lead a patrol to attack shipping, to reach this target they had to cross ground exposed to enemy fire, and was forced to swim about half a mile. He successfully destroyed two caiques and damaged a further three.

During these and other operations, he has shown a remarkable aptitude for leadership, and has been an inspiration to the men under his command.
