CITATION:
Freedom Cross (Norway) : Lt-Col BARING, as GS01 SAS Tps in NORWAY, has done an outstanding job of work. Besides having to act as G1 in BERGEN zone, he was also concerned with many duties with regard to the SAS in BRITAIN, FRANCE and GERMANY at the same time. During the Bde Comd's illness, he acted in his place as Zone Comd with skill and efficiency, earning the confidence of all staff officers of the Norwegian naval and military HQs. His unflurried demeanour in the face of intricate problems and his intelligence in dealing with them, made an increasing number of officers of all nationalities come to him to find solutions to their problems. He has done an outstanding job of work for the British in NORWAY and has been of definite assistance to the Norwegian Forces.
