CITATION:
Military Medal : For conspicuous gallantry. On the 10/11 Dec this N.C.O. was a member of a fighting patrol attacking an enemy gun position. During the assault under heavy fire, Cpl. Bennett showed extreme courage and powers of leadership and was an inspiration to his section who were mainly responsible for the capture of the position and the taking of prisoners. After the action he, regardless of his personal safety, remained behind under fire and assisted to evacuate the wounded. Throughout the whole operation Cpl. Bennett has set an example to his section by his resourcefulness and gallantry.
