CITATION:

Silver Star : Captain (Infantry) Bobby G. Evans, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, in action against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam on 3 April 1969. On that date, Captain Evans demonstrated exceptionally valorous actions as Commander of a company composed of Vietnamese paramilitary personnel and Americans during a mission deep into enemy-controlled territory. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army Air Forces.
