CITATION:

Silver Star : The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Major Phillip C. Ferguson (MCSN: 0-5902), United States Marine Corps, for gallantry in action at New Georgia, Solomon Islands, while directing the successful completion of an important mission which affected the rout of enemy forces on 8 July 1943, he refused to be evacuated when wounded until his mission was completed.
