CITATION:

George Medal : During a period of nearly three years Staff Sergeant GIBLETT was employed on dangerous bomb disposal duties. Throughout this time he was on twenty-four hours call to the Larnaca Police and he dealt with a large number of explosive devices liable to be detonated by time fuses and by fuses responsive to movement or shock.

He removed and disarmed a new pattern bomb fitted with complicated anti-lifting devices thereby/preventing a major disaster in a petrol depot. On more than one occasion he was the first to enter hides to make them safe from booby traps and to remove the extremely dangerous explosives and bombs which they contained.

The day after a comrade had been killed on a new pattern mine he bravely removed a similar device liable to explode on slight pressure.

In these and in other similar incidents, to prevent loss of life and damage to property, he repeatedly faced grave danger of being killed. His conduct has been an example of great courage and constant devotion to duty.
