CITATION:

Military Cross : Courage and determination in hazardous operations.

In the operation on Myebon Peninsula, Captain Johns was in charge of one of the canoes setting explosives on the stakes. The work was done on mud flats 100 yards from a heavily defended beach occupied by the enemy. In all two hours were spent on the beach and throughout he displayed a high degree of courage and initiative, all the stakes in his section being destroyed.
