CITATION:

Mention in Despatches : Throughout the planning period for the repossession of South Georgia and the Falkland Islands he provided excellent advice and direction to the Commanders on Special Force Operations. This involved him in an immense amount of detailed work which enabled him to brief with a total understanding of the military and political implications his Regts actions would be balanced against.

His tasking and control of the SAS Sqns once hostilities started, was first class, as was his leadership when the Regt suffered the loss of a large number of men in a helicopter accident. SAS operation's made a major contribution to the campaign and much of the credit for the success must go to Lt Col ROSE.

He played a key role during the negotiations which led to the final Argentine surrender when with great skill, he developed a radio contact with the enemy, eventually setting up the link by which, the surrender proposal was made to General Menendes and accepted. His personal contribution to the campaign has been considerable and is well worthy of official recognition.
