CITATION:

Bronze Star with Combat "V" Device : The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V" to Sergeant First Class David M. White, United States Army, for valorous achievement as a Ranger Platoon Sergeant in Company B, 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment,, for a Joint Task Force in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan, on 2 December 2014. During this period, Sergeant First Class White directed multiple engagements on enemy fighting positions over a sustained six-hour direct fire fight resulting in the elimination of over 25 enemy combatants. Without regard for his own personal safety, Sergeant First Class White placed himself in direct fire and imminent danger in order to command and control the fight while coordinating the extraction of a wounded Ranger. Sergeant First Class White undoubtedly saved the lives of numerous Rangers and directly contributed to the success of the Joint Task Force. Through his distinctive accomplishments, Sergeant First Class White reflected great credit upon himself, this Command, and the United States Army.
