CITATION:

Silver Star : The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to First Lieutenant Devillo W. Brown (MCSN: 0-12945), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for gallantry in action while serving with the Fourth Marine Raider Battalion at New Georgia, Solomon Islands, on 1 July 1943. While in command of a patrol of fifty men he aggressively attacked a hostile patrol of superior strength, eliminated twenty of the enemy, and successfully drove the remainder from their positions.
