CITATION:

Silver Star : The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to First Lieutenant Thomas J. Connor (MCSN: 0-12970), United States Marine Corps, for gallantry in action while serving with the Fourth Marine Raider Battalion at New Georgia, Solomon Islands in aggressively leading his platoon to repeated assaults upon enemy strongpoints which were defended by extremely heavy rifle, machine gun and mortar fire on 20 July 1943.
