Silver Star : The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Pharmacist's Mate First Class Lewis W. Sitton (NSN: 3761256), United States Navy, for gallantry in action as a Corpsman attached to the Fourth Marine Raider Battalion at New Georgia, in administering first aid and blood plasma to the wounded in the front lines while constantly under enemy fire and despite cerebral concussion from mortar fragments on 20 July 1943. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
